Flower Bookmark

Note: I wrote this poem while listening to this wonderful album by IU. I hope you will enjoy these beautiful songs too!

Do you remember,

The smell of the rain that poured that day?

It was bittersweet,

Just like an overripe mandarin.

Do you remember,

How we both asked for each other’s name?

Serendipity–

That was your only explanation.

Do you remember,

The sound of your heartbeat as we kissed?

It was a slow tune,

Just like the sound of falling raindrops.

Do you remember,

How you held my hand while my tears flowed?

I felt like a child,

Begging you to take away the pain.

Do you remember,

How we said “I love you” every night?

It was comforting,

The way the words escaped our lips.

Do you remember,

The smile that you made when I said “Yes”?

It was really bright,

Just like a pocketful of sunshine.

Do you remember,

The sound of your footsteps on that aisle?

It was surprising,

How fast you ran away from my life.

Just like a caged bird,

You flew and disappeared forever.

Do you remember,

The girl that has a flower bookmark?

She is still waiting,

On that old bridge over the river.

She is still hoping,

To write another chapter with you.
